Multiplayer

The multi-player mode for SpellCubed is likely to be expanded in future versions.

Most likely two or three will play each other, however in the current version up to ten players can play a given game, .  All players in a game will start with the same challenge and compete to get the highest score—but there are some “twists” and each player will be taking a different path toward that finish

Below we briefly describe how his looks, for more details see  SpellCubed with Friends.

One player called a SpellCaster initiates a game by choosing among the various options (difficulty level, timing mode, word list) and creating a “Room”.  (These can be changed later in consulation with other players who might join.

Multiplayer mode begins by the SpellCaster taping on the Button “Multiplayer Setup”:

To play multiplayer tap on the Lower Left Button

That brings up the panel shown below.

Other players then join that room.

SpellCaster enters his name, room name and hits “GO” to create Room.

The SpellCaster has decided on “SpellMaster” for name and “comeSpell” for Room name.

The SpellCaster waits for others to Join in the Room (perhaps playing a solo game while waiting).

Other players then join that room.

Suppose the other player will use the name “Sean” for the game.  On his machine he starts up SpellCubed and taps on “Multiplayer Setup”.  When his panel comes up he will have a choice to either create a new game for which he is the SpellCaster—or he could join the game in the “comeSpell” Room.  We will assume he joins the game by taping on the “Join” Button.

The second player joins that room.

Ssean (and other if more than two play) can chat with the SpellCaster and others as soon as they Join.  (Players enter chat text in grey rectangle at bottom left of screen.)  When the SpellCaster decides it is time, he starts a game of SpellCubed.

As with a single player game, a game begins with a CubeRoll ( a presentation of four Cubes) and a 4Spell (a four word solution) which is revealed, one letter at a time in the Letter Hints as the game is played.  Each of the other players get the same four Cubes (but in different order and rotation).

Max starts game. Note cubes 1 and 3 are in different order and all are rotated.

At critical points, when 4Spells are found or games end, a summary update is issued such as
